EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Leadership Harrison
Leadership Harrison is an intensive public affairs/leadership development program designed to expand the community?s civic leadership. Participants engage in face-to-face discussions with experts and key decision-makers in areas of vital concern to Harrison County. During the program participants must attend a required orientation retreat, nine day-long seminars meeting one Friday a month, as well as a graduation dinner. Click here for application.

Youth Leadership
The Education Committee of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Youth Leadership program for high school sophomores. The program is designed to get more young adults involved in their schools and in their communities and expose them to the many opportunities that exist for them here in Harrison County. The program runs October to May. Interested students should see the guidance counselors. Click here for application.

High School Business Symposium
The Education Committee of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce also sponsors the annual Anthony "Tony" Felosa High School Business Symposium for high school juniors. The program is designed to introduce students to entrepreneurial concepts. Over the course of two days, the student develop a business plan and present it to a panel of judges. The winning team receives scholarships to the Hi-Y Free Enterprise Camp. The Symposium is planned for the Spring each year and is named in honor of a past chair, Tony Felosa, whose dedication to the students was endless. Scholarships
The Education Committee, with the assistance of the WV Junior College, has assembled a list of scholarships available to Harrison County students. Click here for list of scholarships.

Partners In Education
The Harrison County Chamber is actively involved in and encourages partnership between businesses and schools. An annual breakfast is held each fall to honor outstanding partnerships by inducting selected businesses in the "Partners Hall of Fame." We also recognize patners throughout the school year as Partners of the Month. More information may be obtained through the Harrison County Board of Education or the Education Alliance.

Salem Elementary Fitness Trail & Outdoor Classroom
The Chamber's Education Committee has taken on the first county-wide Partners in Education project with the Salem Elementary Fitness Trail and Outdoor Classroom. Community matching funds are currently being solicited as are dedicated bricks which will comprise the floor of the outdoor classrrom. Click here for brick order form and contribution form.
